Jefferson County Humane Society, Inc.

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

We are NOT funded by any of the cities in Jeffeson County or the county. All of our funding comes from donations, fundraisers and adoptions. Our monthly operating expenses average $10,000 and include staff, animal care, veterinary care, mortgage, insurance, and at times, unexpected expenses. We are a no-kill organization and only euthanize for severe medical issues or dangerous dogs (which is rare). We are very fortunate to have volunteers help with our animals and fosters help with kittens and special needs animals.

We have a volunteer veterinarian who does spays and neuters weekly, however, we still have expenses for vaccines, medications, surgical supplies and anethsia medications. We also do not hesitatie to take an animal to Stone House Animal Hospital when required.

Mission

The mission of the Jefferson County Humane Society is to foster the humane care and housing of abandoned animals, promote compatible adoptions, and decrease the number of stray animals through education, disease prevention, sterilization, and cooperation with law enforcement. The organization operates as a No-Kill shelter and is committed to providing excellent care for all cats and dogs in need.

Profile

Please consdier donating to the Jefferson County Humane Society. The majority of the cats and dogs we take in are strays. We also take owner surrendered animals. We work closely with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department on emergency situations and issues of abuse and neglect. Our positive outcome for the animals in our care (adoptions or return to owner) is generally 92-98% every year.
