Valley Falls Art Association Fund

Specific Need

The Valley Falls Art Association seeks support to successfully plan, design, and implement community art projects. Specific needs include:

1. Materials & Supplies – paint, brushes, rollers, scaffolding/lifts, safety equipment, and protective sealants to ensure murals are long-lasting.

2. Site Preparation & Logistics – coordination with the City of Valley Falls for access to the Riverfront Park girders and designated downtown building walls, along with any necessary permits or safety compliance.

3. Community Engagement – outreach to schools, businesses, and residents to build awareness, encourage participation, and ensure the artwork reflects the spirit of Valley Falls.

4. Ongoing Maintenance – clear coat sealants, supplies, and volunteer support to help preserve the murals against weathering and vandalism.

All artistic labor and design will be donated by local artists, making this a true community-driven project with minimal cost to the City.

Mission

The Valley Falls Art Council, under the umbrella of the City of Valley Falls, is dedicated to enriching the cultural life of our community by promoting creativity, supporting local artists, and fostering opportunities for artistic expression. We strive to make the arts accessible to all, celebrate the diverse talents of our citizens, and inspire pride in our shared cultural heritage. Through programs, events, and partnerships, the Council seeks to enhance community identity, encourage lifelong learning, and contribute to the vitality and growth of Valley Falls.

Profile

The Valley Falls Arts Council is a 4-member advisory group dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts within the Valley Falls community. Appointed by the Valley Falls City Council, Arts Council members serve staggered 3-year terms and must reside within the USD 338 school district.

The Arts Council meets quarterly or as needed, and all meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA). These meetings provide an opportunity for community input and collaboration as the Council works to enhance access to and appreciation of the arts across Valley Falls.
