Mission
The Mission of the Valley Falls Police Department K9 Unit is enhance the efforts in crime prevention with narcotics detection, and favorable image in our community.Profile
The Valley Falls Police Department has been given an opportunity to utilize canines within our community and assist surrounding agencies. Officer Rivera's canine, Nylah, is a 3 year old Belgian Malinois. They attended a three week training course to be certified in narctoics detection in Georgia. Nylah is an extremely sweet girl that loves her job. Officer Rivera and Nylah will be working towards certification in Search and Rescue with Kansas Search and Dog Rescue (KSARDA) out of McLouth, Kansas. This team will be called upon for locating not only narcotics but also any missing person such as the eldery and children that have wondered off.
Chief Spire and Radar have starting their training. Radar came from a family in Valley Falls! When this team has completed the required training, they will be used for narcotics detection and tracking people such as suspects running from law enforcement, and sucidial people that have walked away from seeking the mental health they desperating need.
